Ginza design tour

The Ginza, Japan’s major upscale shopping district is full of interesting galleries and design shops as well. On Gridskipper I found this suggestion for a design tour through the area, from the Ginza Graphic gallery to the International Forum.

Some Ginza suggestions (non-design) I would like to add:
- Kyukyodo is a shop selling handmade Japanese papers, incense, calligraphy utensils (including shikishi cards and tanzaku), and other paper products and is fun to browse;
- Hakuhinkan Toy Park - getting old, but always well-stocked with gadgets and fun things;
- Takumi - a great folk crafts shop;
- don’t forget to gorge your eyes on the basement food department of the Ginza Mitsukoshi Department Store (in fact, two basement floors - read more about the ‘depachika’ phenomenon in this article)
- and of course the Kabukiza Theatre!
