Some quirky things to do as a tourist in Tokyo

Skip getting up at a terribly early time to go to the Tsukiji fish market, as everybody is going there already.
Instead, start your adventurous day slowly by having a late coffee in a maid cafe in Akihabara and then (as you have to buy souvenirs anyway and might as well get over with it as quickly as possible) shop for the plastic anime figures so popular with otaku or buy a cosplay uniform for your friend. Or do you prefer to take a maid lamp back for the homefront?
Visit Tokyo Tower and see everything, including the tacky wax museum (and hurry, because this old tower is going to be replaced by the New Tokyo Tower in the Sumida Ward in 2111).
Lunch on exotic-flavored ice cream in Ice Cream City in Namja Town in the Sunshine building in Ikebukuro.
To come to yourself between all this heavy work, take a stroll over a Tokyo graveyard, such as Aoyama Botchi (in fact, an excellent and popular place for viewing cherry blossoms).
Visit the whacky House of Horrors in the Hanayashiki Park in Asakusa; afterwards, sip a denki bran (electric brandy) cocktail in the Kamiya Bar (Japan’s oldest) near the Kaminarimon of Sensoji in the same area to revive your spirits.
End the day by an evening cruise in a yakatabune boat on the Sumida River, enjoying drinks, dinner and howling karaoke songs into the microphone.
Try any of these at your own risk!
(And remember, it is probably too much for one day)
